Easy Sunday

It's my little girl's Birthday weekend and that means parties, food and family.
I have been very busy cleaning shopping and socializing.  We just wished Grandma Jane safe travels on her way home and now I need to get back to work.  I have several bolts to list tonight and more new fabrics coming this week.  I will have news next week on my very first collaboration with another popular etsy seller - I am very excited about it!

Tomorrow is Anna's actual birthday and she wants to share her birthday joy with everyone.  Check out the Facebook Fan page for a sale announcement tomorrow!

Treasure Tuesday

Happy Tuesday blog friends! Today is Treasure Tuesday and every fabric or pattern order placed today in the shop (www.treasurebayfabrics.com) will have a free 1/2 yard of mystery fabric included!

I took some time to sew and almost finished without a mistake. That is until I put the neckband on the wrong size. Whoops.

I wish I could figure out where I organized my good seam ripper at. I will share photos when I fix my mistake. Have a great day everyone!

New Item & New Look Wednesday

I have updated my banner in my etsy shop.  The old banner font was really difficult to read and printed blurry.  I wanted to create a new banner which reflects more of the eclectic, whimsical, colorful and fun fabrics that I have listed in the shop.  I think the new banner is more in line with that vision.  At least I hope it is!

Here is what is new in the shop for the week...  First up, new jacquard ribbons.  These are great for the dog leash pattern I introduced last week or as trim on your craft or sewing project:

Our House Brown
Also new - New Books! One Yard Wonders - for quick and easy crafting (so gratifying to finish something!) and Love to Dress Up Dolls - the cover looks a little cheesy, but trust me, there is good stuff inside!  This book shows you how to make doll outfits from Fat Quarters!  Also, a new line of patterns from Izzy & Ivy - boutique clothing and bags!

New Fabrics - new japanese import cuts (very limitied), new Hello Kitty Jersey,  new SEI and other whimsical prints.  I will be uploading more prints throughout the day.  Most are very limited and out of print - if you see something you like, get it while you can, these prints go very quickly.  Stop by and check everything out!

Fabulous, Inspiring Tutorials

Have you visited Anna Graham's blog Noodlehead yet? If you like to sew things that are so cute you can't stand it, rush right over there. Here's her tutorial for gathered clutches (also available as a PDF pattern with other styling options for purchase right here.)

Or maybe you want a little zippered pouch with a key ring. Tutorial here.

Maybe you want that zippered wallet to have some adorable detailing. Tutorial here.

Or maybe you want to sew a bike basket, a diaper keeper, a mail organizer, or a host of other useful things listed on Anna's blog. Go crazy.

To see the lovely things others have made from her tutorials, like Yellow Poplar's pouches above, visit the Noodlehead Tutorials Flickr pool.

(repost from How About Orange Blog - a super place to spend a day, tons of crafty goodness there!)

Another Great (and easy) Project for a Good Cause!

Looking for a way to help your community in 2010? It's as easy as making a pillowcase and donating it to a local charity - a nursing home, women's shelter, homeless shelter, children's hospital, Child Welfare Services, ... the list goes on and on

American Patchwork & Quilting, along with several other sponsors, are participating in the One Million Pillowcase Challenge, a year-long challenge to make and donate a million (or more!) pillowcases to local charities all over the country.

Visit www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases for free pillowcase patterns.

If you would like to participate in this challenge, I would love to offer you a 10% discount on your fabric purchase in my shop.  Just enter "pillowcase" in your notes to seller or paypal memo and I will refund 10% of your fabric purchase price.

A Winner!

We have a winner but silly me, I have no idea how to contact her, hopefully she is a Facebook reader or Blog Checker, her email is not linked to the comment.  I apologize for not making it clearer in the drawing stipulation.  Lesson learned for future reference.

The winner by random drawing (names in a bucket and selected by my son) was:

Rachel E. said... Congratulations Melissa!

If you are Rachel E., please email me at: melissa@treasurebayonline.com to claim your fabulous prize!  Congrats back atcha!

You may notice (or maybe not, depends on how bored you are) that I keep updating the blog "theme".  I am trying to pick one I like with an easy to follow layout, that is easy on the eyes and is a good representation of "Treasure Bay Fabrics".   I just said "easy" twice in the same sentence, wonder what that means?

Store insight - I did check and one of my huge pattern orders shipped.  In a few days, I will have new patterns by Izzy & Ivy, Oliver + S and restocks on the Modkid Mini Nina.  I am very excited about these new patterns, I think you will love them too.  Fabric is also starting to trickle in.  I will post as they arrive.

Rainbow Around The Block

The lovely and generous Anna Maria Horner is organizing a project that many of you can help with.   You may have seen images of the devastating flooding that occurred in Nashville this Spring.  Many families lost everything in the flood waters.  Anna Maria knows that we all can't be there to help with the clean up efforts but we can be part of providing some comfort.

A quilting project for families in Middle Tennessee who lost their homes to flooding

Quilt Market - Friday part 2

Amy Butler showed off her new bag patterns from her upcoming book, "Style Stitches".
and her new coat pattern for women and girls:
Anna Maria Horner had an amazing booth featuring her new book patterns and her Little Folks voile
And here I am getting her book autographed!
Izzy and Ivy showcased their new patterns - oh yes, I ordered all of them!  They are very cute and unique yet sweet!
This romper was made from the new Patty Young knits.  This photo angle doesn't showcase how adorable this looked in knit!  My little girl would love this!
Oliver + S - more new patterns coming to the shop!

Patty Young for ModKid patterns and her line for Michael Miller fabrics - her booth was bright, colorful and every little girls dream!
Look in the armoire - little doll clothes!  The little bag on the top is a doll sized Sun and Surf Tote!  Patty said that her designer made that from scraps and due to popular demand, it will be a future pattern - it was so cute!
And here is my new friend, Stephanie and Patty Young herself!
and here is Stephanie with Patty's next booth neighbor, Sandi Henderson
Sandi also has a new book.  I looked through it at her booth and was pleasantly surprised to see that the book stylist or photographer used Matilda Jane Clothing in several of the photos!

Quilt Market - Friday

I have not had the time to organize my thoughts but I want to get more photos out there.  Let's see if this will work, I am going to try to post photos with little comments and just do one long post.  Here goes!
Entering the floor, the size of the convention was mind boggling.  Here is the map, each number was a booth.
This adorable doll pattern was the first booth that caught my eye.  This company specializes in importing patterns for quilting and crafting from Australia.  Here are more of the pattern samples:
Ooh!  Tina Givens!  She was very busy chatting, but I did get the opportunity to say, "Hello" and tell her how lovely her fabric collections have been.  She was so gracious.  She autographed a card from her booth for my friend Lisa who is her number one fan.  Her new line for Free Spirit will be out in July and its called Opal Owl.

These are custom Dog Leashes!  Pick any fabric and create a custom dog leash.  I have these listed in my shop - you get the pattern (directions), a 44" strip of Multi-purpose cloth and the snap hook.  Very cute gift idea for a new pet owner or your own pampered pooch!
More cute things I found (and ordered for the shop!  New Favorite Things patterns - a little dress/hat combo and Maternity top.
And above - a criss cross jumper dress, diaper bag, and diapers!

More photos coming....
